One of six children, Fluegel grew up primarily in Binghamton, New York, and when her father died when she was 16, she decided to start modeling to support her mother.
In 2010, the Los Angeles Police Department included Fluegel and her Hunter predecessor, Stepfanie Kramer, in an event celebrating female officers.
Fluegel isn't exactly mellifluous, she readily concedes.
As it turned out, more promising offers did come her way, beginning with a role as the chief love interest in Roger Corman's cultish space opera Battle Beyond the Stars 1980.
In 1985, she appeared in as Ruth Lanier, the love interest of Richard Chance.
She took over the female lead in season seven of Hunter 1984 , but, given 'creative differences' between her and co-star Fred Dryer , she wanted to quit the show and her character was killed off after twelve episodes.
In 1989, she starred in with Sylvester Stallone.
